LED light therapy, also known as light-emitting diode therapy, is a non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that exposes the skin to different wavelengths of visible light.
- How It Works:
- LED light therapy penetrates the skin without causing trauma, unlike laser resurfacing that relies on controlled microdamage.
- NASA originally developed this technology to grow plants in space, but they discovered it also promoted human tissue growth and wound healing.
- The most common LED colors used are red light (often paired with invisible near-infrared light) and blue light. Yellow and green light therapy are also used.

IPL (Intense Pulse Light)
IPL systems work on the same principles as lasers in that light energy is absorbed into particular target cells in the skin. The light energy is converted to heat energy, which causes damage to the specific target area. IPL systems are different to lasers in that they deliver many wavelengths (or colours) in each pulse of light instead of just one wavelength. IPL therapy is considered a non-ablative resurfacing technique, which means that it targets the lower layers of skin (dermis) without affecting the top layers of skin (epidermis). The advantage of IPL therapy is its minimal downtime – you can often have the procedure done in your lunch break and return to work immediately afterwards.
IPL can be used to treat;
- Vascular lesions – For the treatment of spider and thread veins, visible capillaries:
- Light pulses targeted at the red-pigment in the blood which heats and destroys the pigment without affecting the skin or other tissues.
- Pigmented lesions – For the treatment of age spots, freckles, flat pigmented birthmarks and other skin discolouration problems:
- Light pulses targeted at the melanin in the skin’s surface which heats and destroys melanin to remove the discolouration.
- Acne – For treatment of acne:
- Light pulses can destroy P Acne bacteria and help to relieve many of the symptoms of acne. IPL can also help in its management to avoid subsequent acne scarring. IPL treatment of acne should be considered an additional acne management tool that will reduce excessive use of antibiotics.
A course of approximately 4-6 treatments is recommended, dependant on the skin condition being treated.
A consultation & test patches are mandatory prior to commencement of all IPL treatments.
Plasma Pen Fibroblast Therapy
Plasma fibroblast therapy targets fibroblasts. These are collagen– and protein-producing cells in the dermis, the layer of skin just below your outermost skin layer.
Fibroblasts play an important role in helping skin wounds heal as well as maintaining skin firmness and tightness.
Plasma fibroblast therapy uses a pen-like device that discharges a high-frequency electric current to small areas of the skin.
The plasma tip doesn’t directly touch the skin, but instead releases a targeted current just above the skin. The hot current creates micro-injuries, in the skin’s layer.
The Plasma Pen device offers an ideal method of rejuvenation for people who don’t want to go under the knife for a face or eye lift, enabling them to avoid the risks of surgery.
Plasma Pen is a non-invasive skin tightening treatment that can be used to treat various skin concerns. The device can assist with:
- Eyelid tightening (including lower eyelids and excess upper eyelid skin)
- Improving the appearance of acne scars
- Diminishing stretch marks
- Tightening loose stomach skin after pregnancy

Once the procedure is completed, you can expect the small dots to scab over and fall off after about 1 week. Over the next couple of weeks, as your skin heals, it should appear tighter and firmer.
